This presentation for experienced healers and therapists was hosted by the Healing Trust and Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary for Healing Week 2022.
After sharing about my own background in healing, I describe three types of healing:
1. Push Prana (Yang);
2. Loving Presence;
3. Drop back into pattern (Yin).
I also define health as ‘Comfortable Flexibility’ and illness as ‘Uncomfortable Rigidity.’
Later in the presentation I discuss strategies that address healing the etheric wounds of sexual abuse.
I describe how to cooperate with the spirits-angels-devas of healing, so that the healer can attune to how best to approach their work.
The session was hosted and moderated by Jennifer Jones, director of the Healing Trust.
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your excellent presentation on the Three types of healing, it was like a breath of fresh air!
I agree 110% that people do not always create their own illness. This is something I feel very strongly about as I have come across several well-intentioned healers who hold this view but don’t seem to understand how harmful it can be. Suggesting to someone in a vulnerable physical and emotional state that they are somehow responsible for their illness or need to look for the lesson in the disease (particularly if this is not something they had considered) only adds to their stress, creates feelings of guilt or thoughts that they somehow deserve to be in this situation, hardly conducive to healing! So, I am glad you raised this issue.
I liked your model of the three types of healing. The model of healing taught by the Healing Trust is purely yang healing and involves pushing energy/chi/prana into someone. Teaching tends to suggest that this is pretty much (with a few extreme exceptions) always suitable/beneficial and I have felt this is not always the case. I personally haven’t always felt comfortable receiving healing. I have naturally high levels of energy and sometimes when taking part in healing shares have felt very restless and quite uncomfortable. I once experienced an acupuncturist whose standard method was to run energy through the entire system for 20 minutes. I could feel the energy flowing through me, it was very pleasant at the time but it was followed by two nights without sleep, I didn’t need all that extra energy! My personal view is that yang healing is unlikely to be appropriate for people with any sort of irritation, restlessness or hyperactivity. Therefore, I like your model of yin healing, of holding space to allow for a calming and bringing down of energy and this type of work together with sitting in loving kindness is likely to be more suitable/beneficial in a large number of situations.
Thank you for introducing these ideas and I hope your model of the different types of healing is something the Healing Trust can consider incorporating into their future training programmes.
Gday William , it was really a huge pleasure to watch your three types of healing video . I can say that I found a significant resonance with your experience and understanding of healing processes and foundations and it definitely clarified my own experiences throughout my life with healing modalities as a receiver and a person directing or holding qi or reiki or shamanic healing processes .
My own experiences of firstly learning about healing in both a group process ( energy work ) and on a one to one basis , as channeled through , was both an experience of navigating and learning how to raise vibratory rates to reach higher intelligences ( healing energies ) , an expansion and a willingness to be open , and also an impulse towards directing flow intuitively guided . I felt often a guided by a higher force or intelligence, sometimes angelic or et in nature .
I often experienced a physical vibration and a sense of spiraling energy as well as a strong impulse to “ push qi outwards” to begin a intentional flow of energy towards a place or person of need .
When I was surrounded by friends and lovers , experiencing deep trauma and physical disharmony and illness with HIV / AIDS I saw the positive and often transformative effects of Reiki and other energy healing modalities that “ held “ an intentional focus of healing , with a openness to how that manifested , a willingness to lay hands on with permission , and to allow the persons own healing journey and needs to “ pull through “ the appropriate level of universal life force energy or qi , it was a form of “active loving surrender “ .
Though there were times when in my own personal healing practice that a more active more intentional push or directed energy was needed and intuited , and so acted on .
I also had the experience of having higher intelligences or guides intervene and move someone on to a more whole state , a higher vibratory reality , a form of soul retrieval .
Usually in response to the clients need or my request as healing facilitator .
There were also times when they just intervened on their own for a positive shift in energies or state of being .
One of my master teachers Ryoko Endo taught me the importance of trying to begin with a receptive state of listening with the heart , and the goal of creating such a resonance with the client that our “qi “ or Ki bodies merge and become One . He said that was the state of the most optimal healing could be possible and I certainly had a number of experiences with clients in shiatsu where that single focus seemed to manifest during the shiatsu bodywork session and there was a deep sense of connective ness , a flowing , a sense of tranquility and peacefulness and a sense of surrendering to relaxation .
I wanted to say that since of healing the enteric net and the accessing the consciousness field and the brain being a receptor of the “ intelligence field “ made sense to me and resonated with information I channeled through in my twenties during a retreat .
I channeled through that the intelligence field of consciousness was blocked by substance abuse , it stopped the brain from receiving properly or completely.
I also took in your info on sexual abuse as I’m a abuse survivor myself and have had my own struggles with healing myself from those wounds .
I am also reminded that when I was involved in the HIV support group in the late 80s early 90s , we did a global process psychology workshop and Max introduced us collectively to the concept that we can “ dream ourselves” in a collective sense as well as a personal sense and be experiencing or manifesting some archtypal energies or illness or situation because of the collective dreaming … so I can relate also to your sharing on that William .
I also wanted to say that working with golden solar angels was some of the most powerful and physically transformational work and experiences I had both asked for and spontaneous.
Also when you talked about templates and the angelic realm holding the purity of form maybe .?
The template of how things could be in their highest form I was brought to rememberence of certain encounters “ in dream state “ with Golden Light Grays , who I believed were “ the watchers and the holders of form . That was their work for divinity or the universe , to preserve form , a bit like devic energies and it also reminded me of Indigenous Australians “ Wadjinas “ .
Just some thoughts on the video , very grateful for the sharing William , thank you .
Warm Ki to ya

So in agreement that we do not always create our own disease! Hooray. I’ve always thought that was an odious concept and darn right cruel to the sick person. At the same time I recognise that Karmic lessons are a factor in our earthly lives. Jin Shin Jyutsu from Japan seems very near the 3rd ( Yin type) of healing method. There is a book and it is taught in this country in Maidenhead.
I am still trying to heal the severe rheumatoid arthritis I am experiencing. Thank you for your insight. I appreciate. Always hoping…
Thank you so much for such a wide and deep explanation of healing. I’m living alone and not sure , but have experienced positive results working on close friends and famliy. And I really felt I ‘understood’ your explanation of your experience.
Wonderful to experience your session and very important for the future for me.
