It is very rare for me to share someone else’s eLetter/blog, but I want to share a recent one from my friend, David Spangler.
I don’t know about you, but my in-box gets filed with email rubbish. The most stupid one I’ve recently received is an offer for a 7-Second Prosperity fix that will make me fabulously rich almost instantaneously with just a quick . . . I did not click to see how much it would cost me in money or intelligence.
In the same hour I received a beautiful, inspiring eLetter from David. Some of you may recall that a while ago, when I was about to go into hospital, I wrote a piece in which I described a realisation. My prayers for myself felt out of integrity and everything was transformed into a genuine benevolent flow when my prayer changed to: ‘May my presence in the hospital be a blessing – a blessing to medics, the patients, the cleaners . . .’
David’s eLetter is extraordinarily grounded and inspiring. He has been going through a gruelling treatment for a spreading cancer. Here is his latest blog:
The Beauty of Human Energy
by David Spangler

As I write this, I am sitting in a small hospital room receiving my first chemotherapy treatment. My cancerous bladder was removed but the cancer itself survived to migrate to other organs, including my lungs. Hence, the chemo!
To make this a memorable week, yesterday I had surgery to create a fistula in my left arm. This is a joining of an artery and a vein to make a “docking port” in case I need to have dialysis. My kidneys are now one of the targets of the cancer.
After the vascular surgery, I got to marveling on the skill and knowledge it took to make the fistula. Who thought of this in the first place? So, I did some research. Fistulas, it turns out, occur naturally when two hollow organs that should remain separate somehow get connected. Normally, this is a pathology. But hemodialysis fistulas such as I now have were created deliberately out of many attempts to help people with kidney failure. The research goes back to the turn of the last century. But the kind of fistula I have wasn’t developed until the 1960s.
As I lay in bed last night, filling my arm with Light and welcoming the new joining of one of my arteries and veins, I couldn’t help but appreciate the amount of human energy, creativity, skill, and caring that went into this medical procedure. So many unknown heroes whose efforts made this possible, of which I am now a beneficiary.
This is true for the chemo now entering my body. It, too, is the product of many lives, many intelligences, many souls working to find and improve ways of dealing with cancer. Whatever one may think of “Big Pharma,” behind all these endeavors is love and caring, and for many, a call to service. This is what I tuned into last night.
As I lay in bed, preparing my body energetically for the therapy I’m undergoing today, I had this deep sense of peace and of love and appreciation for all the human energy that has gone into the whole field of healing, allopathic and otherwise.
We see the destructiveness of human thought, feeling, and action displayed daily on the news. What we may not see, or see as clearly, is our human creativity, or the love and caring we bring to discovering ways of helping each other. We rightly decry the state of the world with its brutality and suffering, but we also need to celebrate the beauty we bring into the world as well.
I have always had a hard time adjusting to my physical body. It has been a consequence of the particular attunement to the subtle and spiritual worlds that I’ve had all my life. Not that a spiritual focus necessarily means a lack of physical focus or vice versa, but I teach Incarnational Spirituality in part because incarnation has been a challenge and something I’ve had to learn. The world often seems strange to me in ways that it doesn’t appear to be to others. This has never prevented me from loving the world and taking joy at being part of it. But it has meant physical challenges as my soul works to adapt to physical life. This latest struggle with cancer seems to be a part of that.
I certainly would rather it be otherwise; I have no desire to be ill. But what my latest illness has done is given me a portal into this arena of human endeavor on behalf of humanity. It has made me even more aware of the beauty of our human energy and creativity as we seek to make the world a better, safer, healthier place. Now, I take into my body not poison, not chemicals, but Light flowing from this human energy.
It makes me love our strange and struggling species even more.

Thank you David for bringing the concept of light into intravenous therapy. You provided me with much food for thought.
[fyi–sending comment again for not sure it went through the first time. Thx!] Please excuse my late response, as I’ve been away visiting family. Thank you for sharing David Spangler’s recent eletter. I’ve reread it several times. As someone who went through cancer surgery five years ago, I’m moved by David’s profound acceptance, curiosity, gratitude and love in face of his cancer journey. A journey now made even more arduous due to chemotherapy treatment. The prospect of needing chemotherapy or radiation after surgery filled me with dread. I’m extremely thankful such treatment wasn’t required. To read David’s calm and soul-infused post—composed while beginning his first chemotherapy treatment–is humbling and inspiring to the extreme. If I ever need to face another cancer diagnosis, I will try to recall David’s words & presence and draw on that for strength and guidance. If I even acquire a fraction of the grace David shows in his eletter, I will be fortunate. Blessings to David for restored health and vitality. I’m also inspired by your example, William, when faced with a serious health challenge. While I’m here, I’d like to congratulate you on successfully spearheading (with assistance from others) the inaugural Schools Spiritual Wellbeing CPD being held in January. (Re: Oct. 12th eletter). May the program develop and flourish well into the future, and inspire similar school initiatives across the globe.
Documents the human ability to directing focus to create an aligned experience.
Very thought provoking and touching experience. I am wishing David that his journey through chemo remains positive. May his attitude maintain the calmness, strength and trust needed to go through it. Many blesssings
Thank you, William, for sharing this correspondence from David Spangler, which is so moving, touching and also inspirational. He is someone I know about only via the internet, as a co-founder of Findhorn and as an author and psychic. He has struck me as a deeply spiritual person, although much of what he teaches about subtle worlds is way beyond anything in my own comprehension or experience.
I feel deep compassion for him in his illness and send him and all that surround him every healing energy and blessing.
Mari

Thank you William and thank you and blessings to David.
Thank you David for this clear insight into allopathic medicine and the human face of modern medical profession .
It’s easy to forget or be unaware of the progression and development that’s gone into creating certain proceedures .
I recently had heart bypass surgery and aftercare in a cardio thoracic unit in Geelong Australia.
I found the whole process rather overwhelming and frightening and with the associated risks of the surgery had to once again just surrender to the flow of the experience of the now and place my absolute trust in the hands of the surgical team .
I am a gay man living with HIzv since 1993 and every time I have to deal with medical staff I’m apprehensive as to how they will treat me ,
As someone who needs care and compassion or to be feared , or judged for me carrying a virus in my body .
It tends to be a mixed bag of experience, and this time was no different with some direct challenges and negativity I felt I had to challenge and try to resolve or stand up to .
I often find .that I go into education mode trying to self advocate and share direct life experiences to break down stigma and discrimination and the outcome is often a bit of everything. Positive and negative .
I did find a few lights , some individuals who seem to carry light with them and truely come from a state of compassion and empathic understanding and it helped me get through the other stuff with less trauma .
Still towards the end of my stay I was still experiencing active judgements and negativity and went into defensive mode and my warrior emerged .
I was prepared to self discharge at the end because I had reached my limit of tolerance and enough was enough .
Since leaving the hospital which was beginning to feel like a very unsafe place I have been able to breath and relax and put down my shields and focus on my self directed healing and my capacity to allow my life long exploring alternative healing modalities and my healer within to take charge of my journey towards healing and interacting my new reality .my surgical wounds are almost healed but I recognise that deeper levels of healing are still there waiting to be worked on .
And I have to fit this in the context of a a a world with rampant human generated climate change , war and death and suffering and the general struggles of living .
My farm and the plant beings I care about and share my property with have had to go it alone for a couple of months so I’ve got alot of catching up to do in the physical sense once my strength returns or is rebuild.
I am still seeking to bring .ore light , qi and loving intention into my life back on the farm .
The wild nature beings bring peace and acceptance and purpose and it’s where I feel the most connected to the world .
Thank you for this. I have read every word. The wild nature beings bringing peace. ….so true. May you continue to draw that peace deeper into yourself every day.
Pierre Pradervand, who passed on July 26, had written several blessings dealing with illness in his book, 365 Blessings to heal myself and the world. Thank you for your sharing, and I thought I would share this one with you
For A Person Suffering From A Serious Disease
In recent years there has been a growing consciousness of the amazing ability of the human mind to alter the body (including even elements like the DNA, which was thought of earlier on as unalterable, can be modified). This is opening up vast new areas of unconventional (and sometimes supremely efficient) healing. There are carefully well-documented cases of chronic or terminal diseases healed solely by spiritual means. These and many other developments make it realistic to envision completely new approaches to health and healing.
We (I) bless …….. (name of patient) in the great trial she(he) are facing with this major challenge to their well-being and even life. May they find the courage and determination needed to face any situation that could present itself.
May they feel deep down inside that however tough the going and dark the valley, Providence’s constant and tender caring always surrounds them.
May they understand that if a human body can be temporarily derailed or even terminated, the divine Life in them knows no death, for there is none in Its ever-presence.
May they acquire such a clear grasp of their own divinity and oneness with their Source that all fears for their health just melt away, whatever the medical predictions and concerns.
May they delve deep down into the most secret chamber of their heart so as to contact their perfect being hidden behind the veil of material beliefs and appearances.
We (I) bless all the doctors involved that they may be guided to the most appropriate treatments, the nursing personnel in their deep humanity, and the family in its constant trust and encouragements of their beloved one.
Blessings and best wishes. Manuela
